The Perry Group
Where Perry’s legacy meets
America’s 250th.
On August 2, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was formally signed — a moment that changed the world. In 2026, America marks 250 years of that freedom with a national celebration right here on the shores of Lake Erie.
In 1813, Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry stood on these waters and secured American sovereignty. His victory forged a century of peace between the United States, Canada, and Britain — and the 352-foot column rising above Put-in-Bay stands as its eternal testament.
The Perry Group is the official Friends Group of Perry’s Victory & International Peace Memorial. We are not visitors to this history — we are its stewards. For years we have preserved this monument, shared its story, and connected this community to its extraordinary past.
In 2026, as America marks her 250th anniversary, the whole nation is coming to our island. And we couldn’t be more proud to open our doors.
